Preferences are personalized instructions that customize how your Hyperaide assistant interacts with you. They’re like personality settings that shape your assistant’s communication style, priorities, and working behavior.

What are Preferences?

Preferences are simple text instructions that tell your assistant how you want to be treated. They can cover anything from communication style to behavioral patterns to language preferences.
Think of preferences as a set of rules or guidelines that your assistant always keeps in mind when working with you. They’re included in every conversation, ensuring consistent behavior across all interactions.

Types of Preferences

How your assistant should talk to you and format responses.Examples:
  • “Always be concise in your responses”
  • “Use emojis when appropriate to make messages friendly”
  • “Format action items as bullet points”
Language preferences and conversational tone.Examples:
  • “Talk to me in French”
  • “Use casual, friendly language”
  • “Be professional and formal in work-related conversations”
How your assistant should behave and when to reach out.Examples:
  • “Remind me gently about tasks—don’t be pushy”
  • “Only notify me for urgent items”
  • “Proactively suggest improvements to my workflows”
Your work habits and productivity preferences.Examples:

Managing Preferences

You can manage your preferences in two ways:

  • Through Your Assistant

Navigate to Preferences

Open the Preferences section in the sidebar

Add New Preference

Click “Add New Preference” and type your instruction

Save

Press ⌘ + Enter or click “Add Preference”
You can edit or delete preferences at any time by clicking the edit or delete icons next to each preference.

How Preferences Work

When your assistant receives any instruction or message, it reads all your active preferences first. These preferences are included in the system prompt, ensuring your assistant always keeps them in mind.

Preferences

Rule of thumb: Use preferences for “how you work” and instructions for “what to do right now.”
